....that children & the elderly are most frequently negatively impacted by food poverty locally?
....that most people in NI are one paycheque away from a financial crisis?
....that each week we provide 100+ meals to people living locally in Ards & North Down?
If we just did things differently there would be enough for everyone and poverty would not exist. We do not think this is a crazy dream we think this can be a reality for everyone in our community join us in our revolution.
We are partners with FareShare and we work locally collecting all the food from local stores like Tesco, Asda, Lidl, Co-Op, KFC and local business's. All this good food is saved from the bin and cooked into frozen meals to give out to those who are experiencing a crisis. We also work with some fantastic local heroes including Albert Boal Butchers, Bangor Walled Garden, Mash Direct and U3A Allotments who all donate food surplus.
You may have food in your cupboards & fridge which you might not use. Instead of letting it sit there why not join the revolution. Have you heard about our Community Food Hub? There are so many ways to get involved in our food revolution.
It's not ok that people living locally are hungry. It starts with us using our voices to say no, enough is enough. Together we can change this.
Do you have something to share - something extra in your cupboard, some time to volunteer, an idea to bring about change. Join us!
Systems needs totally changed - people need equal access to education, oppourtunity, mental health care and so much more.
We need people power. Volunteer drivers, food collectors, warehouse stock controllers, cooks, bakers & much more to make this happen.
There are so many ways to get involved with this project.
